I'm Every Woman
Identity Project
A typology of female beauty standards
How does our sense of self perception influence our daily lives?
To answer this question, Tia took portraits of Women wearing their makeup however they usually would on a daily basis, she then asked them to remove their makeup while capturing images of the process and then took more portraits of them in their natural state. She did not edit any of her images as she wanted to preserve the natural looks of her subjects, supporting ideas surrounding unrealistic beauty standards.
Her thoughts behind this idea stemmed from how wearing makeup, either on a daily basis or for special occasions, plays a huge part in our identities and how we want to present and express ourselves in the world, more specifically how we want other people to view us and our identities due to issues surrounding toxic beauty standards and she wanted to show through her work that beneath the makeup, we are all still perfectly beautiful as our natural selves.
