Identity Project
A typology of students desks highlighting British student identity
Produced for the Elysian Exhibition in 2023, ‘Desks Of Identity’ is a form of both portraiture and still-life and has been made as a way of shining a light on the overlooked fact of just how much something as mundane as a desk has to offer in terms of how everyday household items and miscellaneous trinkets laid out on that desk can tell you about a person's identity and how they live their lives.
From carefully organised workspaces, to chaotic clusters of random possessions, each image in the ‘Desks Of Identity’ typology will invite you, the viewer, to think about the complexities and chaos of student life, as a way of honouring the voices and stories of these students and celebrating the richness of human identity and shedding a light on how significant seemingly ordinary spaces are in shaping and expressing our individual and collective identities.
